Step 1:
Eat frequent, small, healthy meals throughout the day. Eating up to six small meals every three hours will keep your metabolism active and burn fat. Once you start burning fat all over the body, your facial fat will decrease also. Make healthy choices such as complex carbohydrates instead of simple carbohydrates, unsaturated fats instead of saturated fats and plenty of lean protein. Good choices include fiber-rich and whole-grain products, fruits, vegetables, olive oil, fish and chicken.
Step 2:
Drink eight glasses of water a day to keep your body hydrated and to flush your system. Water also aids in digestive health and keeps metabolism going.
Step 3:
Incorporate cardiovascular exercise into your lifestyle. Cardiovascular exercise increases your metabolism and burns fat all over the body, including the face. Exercises that raise the heart rate include running, swimming, biking and working out on the elliptical machine and a step machine.
Step 4:
Add weight training to your exercise routine. Weight training builds muscles, which burn fat even when you are at rest. It increases your metabolism and will prevent future weight gain all over your body. Use free weights for basic moves such as bicep curls, triceps kick-backs, weighted lunges and weighted squats.
Step 5:
Exercise your facial muscles by doing facial exercises. Look toward the ceiling and open and close the mouth as if you are chewing. Feel the neck muscles working as you do this. Another exercise to do is to open your eyes wide and look straight ahead. Open your mouth as if you were to scream. Return to the starting position. Do this same exercise while moving your head to the left and to the right. A different facial exercise would be to start by squeezing your teeth together as you spread your lips to expose them. Hold this for 10 seconds before returning to your starting position. Do these facial exercises five to 10 times per day.
Step 6:
Give yourself a facial massage to increase facial blood and oxygen circulation and to tighten the skin. Skin should be clean before starting the massage. Use baby powder or a skin cream when massaging the face. Cold cream works well on normal and oily skin, while vitamin and vanishing creams work well on dry skin. Use upward strokes with your fingers from the lower part of the face to the upper part of the face and strokes from the outer side to the inner side of the face. Stroke cheeks with your fingertips from the nose to the temples. Pinch the chin and neck area between your thumb and fingers. Massage up to 15 minutes, one time per month.
Step 7:
Use a firming and toning cream to supplement your daily skin care regimen. Using a firming day and night cream will help the skin appear tighter over time. These creams can be found in most drugstores and grocery stores.
Step 8:
Consider facial liposuction if you want fast, permanent results. During facial liposuction, unwanted fat cells are removed and the face is resculpted. It takes only one procedure to remove the fat cells.
